Has ChatGPT Changed SEO?

the introduction of ChatGPT X Bing Search – the AI wars are definitely heating up. In this video I will discuss whether or not this is the end of Organic SEO as we know it, and whether ranking organic SEO is now pointless

In my opinion, not much will change, as most queries are already no click queries, most likely all this will do is increase the percentage of non click queries, and change the focus of SEO towards more listicle and best of articles, where experts can still give details that the AI may not even know.

With the introduction of ChatGPT and their partnership with Bing, a lot of people are asking right now – what will Google do about it.

Today they announced exactly that, and in this video we’re going to try and answer the question – Is google changing SEO forever?

Google issued a RedAlert over the swift adoption of ChatGPT (https://www.businessinsider.com/google-management-issues-code-red-over-chatgpt-report-2022-12?r=US&IR=T)

For context, it took TikTok 3x longer to get to 100m users than it took ChatGPT to hit the same number – This is a classic sign up a disruptive technology, and it’s easy to see why.

You might be wondering why Google cares, but it’s easy to see why if you think about it for a moment.

Firstly, Google has two major problems right now:

You don’t always see the results to the question you want to, especially if it’s a super specific question
You have to scroll through a lot of crap to get to the answer you want

ChatGPT will (most likely) revolutionize this in the future, and will also take a lot of its users over to Bing (who currently have less than a 10% market share)

This disrupts Google in several ways – but you may think that they’re not doing anything about it. However, they’ve already announced their competitor, which will do exactly the same thing as ChatGPT X Bing.

Google has announced that they will be including a system called Bard in their search results soon.

If you are worried about the effect this will have on your SEO rankings and clicks, you can relax. Although this tool will likely revolutionize certain types of searches, google is not about to remove their entire ranking algorithm.

This is another classic case of “if your job can be taken by AI, you’re probably not skilled enough.”

My advice to you right now is to work with AI, and stop working against it, because this technology is here to stay. Just like TikTok, but 3x faster uptake, with the fastest growing userbase ever, ChatGPT is definitely going to revolutionize SEO, but will Bard destroy my job? Not likely.

ChatGPT and Bard cannot give you a link to buy something, you cannot buy a sweatshirt from ChatGPT or Bard (yet) – and although it can give you a list of best brands, people are still going to look for their favorite websites on search results.

Is it pointless to start a new website if you’re just using Organic SEO?

ABSOLUTELY NOT. If you’re selling a product, you should not skip out on Organic SEO just because of these updates.

My argument against “Google is going to be destroyed by ChatGPT” is that these AI search assistants will ONLY BE USEFUL FOR CERTAIN QUERIES, for others they’re going to be completely useless.

Is this going to affect your SEO? Probably. Is it going to destroy your SEO forever? Probably not.
