7 Years of Organic Keyword Research in 25 Minutes

This is my unique perspective on keyword research for Organic SEO and blog writing – basically I teach more about logic and understanding your niche well, rather than focusing on individual analysis of each keyword one by one

Although I don’t use ChatGPT in this video, it’s an important part of my process too, especially for making outlines and for doing further keyword research

The reason for this is because you’ll be incredibly surprised what you actually rank for if you stop focusing on one keyword and start focusing on just building out good content, written around a good traffic keyword

I started SEO in 2016 when it was fairly easy to do keyword research

7 years later and everyone thinks everything has changed – but people focus far too much on big keywords

If you’re just starting out and you’re pretty new to SEO the best way to approach keyword research is by understanding that any good page of content that is genuinely helpful and full of information will rank for some kind of keyword.

That being said, there are a few ways to improve your keyword research that will allow you to quickly and easily take the next step and start to really rank on Google

Being an expert in your niche

Although not completely necessary – being an expert in your niche and knowing the topic inside and out will help you so much when creating content and doing keyword research.

Think about it from the perspective of google – would you rather rank an expert in the topic that provides real value – or a marketer trying to rank a load of affiliate articles

The first piece of advice I can give you is become an expert in the niche – or choose something you’re already an expert in.

Planning out the niche logically

I’m going to do this with an example that I have absolutely no idea about

Ant farms

So I’m going to research this niche by simply searching ant farms and looking at the “people also asked”

Specifies of ants
How many ants
Lifespan of ants
Are ant farms a good idea
How long can you keep them
What happens when it rains
How to get a queen

There’s literally unlimited questions that you can quickly answer using ChatGPT or just manually writing blog posts – but if you write with ChatGPT without some kind of guidance you many create bad content – check out this video to learn more about creating high quality content using ChatGPT

Find a competitor

Google around these keywords and see if any niche website is appearing repeatedly. This is normally the case.

Take the competitor’s website and search it on google ad word keyword planner

This will give you a massive list of keywords. If possible use this group of keywords to make collection pages on your platform. If you’re selling something then make collections of what you’re selling.

Go super deep into this think things like “ant farm for X/Y/Z specifies of ant”

Create supporting blog posts with the keyword list

Using a google doc app script, add your new blog posts every time to a new google doc and re-run the script (you can probably just keep them all in the same google document actually and that script should re-run if you delete all the content)

Make sure to be internally linking well and make quick content using ChatGPT or manually write everything but use ChatGPT to give you a blog outline.

Make some sick content using mid journey – this can help increase your click through rate massively so definitely utilise this.

Make sure you have google search console verified and google analytics set up.

These are both important – but submitting your sitemap to search console helps you get indexed. If you’re not indexed on google you’re not ranking for anything.

After you’re indexed – make sure to submit new pages to search console. At least the blogs, maybe the collections and categories if you want.
